Cleaner, Better-Tasting Water for the RGV
Water Filtration Systems — Whole-Home & Drinking Water
Treviño Repairs installs water filtration systems tailored to Rio Grande Valley water: whole-home (point-of-entry) filters for chlorine/chloramine taste and odor, sediment and rust, and specialty media for sulfur or iron; plus drinking-water systems like under-sink reverse osmosis (RO) for high-purity water at the tap. We assess your plumbing, pressure, and water quality goals, then deliver a clean, code-compliant install with easy maintenance and clear guidance.

Services for Water Filtration Systems
We design and install filtration that fits your home, usage, and budget—prioritizing flow, pressure, and simple upkeep. After a quick water-quality review (and lab testing if needed), we size housings/media properly, add shutoff/bypass valves, and route drains/air gaps where required. Expect neat workmanship and labeled components so service is simple.
We install & service:
- Whole-home (POE) carbon systems for chlorine/chloramine taste/odor
- Sediment filtration (spin-down, 10″ standard, 20″ “big blue”; 5–50 micron)
- Catalytic carbon/KDF® media for chloramine & metals reduction
- Iron/sulfur filters (oxidizing media) and specialty cartridges (as applicable)
- Under-sink RO (2–4+ stage), remineralization options, dedicated faucet
- UV disinfection add-ons when appropriate for well or post-RO
- Service & cartridge/media changes, pressure checks, and sanitization
Code & best practices (as applicable):
- Full bypass & isolation valves, pressure/temperature ratings, PRV checks
- Proper drain & air gap for RO; tubing neatly routed and secured
- Thermal expansion control where required; labeled shutoffs & flow direction
- Mounting/backer boards, seismic straps (where needed), and leak checks
Upgrades & options:
- Dual-stage POE (sediment + carbon) for clearer water and longer media life
- Filter size upsizing (20″ big-blue) to reduce pressure drop
- Fridge/ice maker RO feed, line-set add
- Annual service plan with filter reminders
Filtration Types & Where They Fit (RGV Guide)
Sediment (5–50 micron): First step for cloudy water, sand, or rust. Protects fixtures and downstream filters; bigger housings = fewer changes and less pressure drop.
Activated/Catalytic Carbon: Improves taste/odor by reducing chlorine; catalytic carbon targets chloramine more effectively. Great whole-home choice for municipal supplies.
KDF®/Specialty Media: Helps with certain metals and extends carbon life; often combined in high-capacity whole-home tanks.
Iron/Sulfur Filters: Oxidizing media can reduce rotten-egg smell (H₂S) or staining (iron/manganese) when sized and applied correctly.
Reverse Osmosis (RO): Point-of-use drinking water with very fine filtration for dissolved solids; ideal at kitchen tap/ice.
UV Disinfection: For microbial control on wells or post-RO when indicated—requires clear (low-turbidity) water and correct sizing.
Note: Filtration improves taste/odor and targeted contaminants; it does not soften water. For scale/hardness control, pair with a water softener.

When to Add or Upgrade Water Filtration
Strong chlorine taste/odor, cloudy water or visible sediment, rust staining, metallic/rotten-egg smells, frequent clogged faucet aerators, limescale on fixtures (softener helps here), or bottled-water dependency are signs it’s time. If you’re adding a nursery, caring for elderly family, or setting up a home coffee/ice bar, under-sink RO can be a smart quality upgrade. Treviño Repairs will review your goals, recommend the right filtration path, and size it for RGV water and your home’s flow rate.

Great Service: We had a leak and couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Eduardo took his time to find the source, kept me updated throughout the process, and finally discovered it was an AC leak. Just last week, we had paid another company to fix the same issue, but they didn’t do the job correctly. Eduardo explained everything clearly, offered to correct the problem, and even charged less than what we had previously paid the other company. Once he identified the leak, he made sure it was completely taken care of. I called today, and they arrived in less than an hour—excellent service! Eduardo was the best, and I highly recommend him company.Posted on JoAnn BreauxTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service, super fast and convenient. Water Filtration System Installion Questions, Answered
Straightforward answers before you book—symptoms, costs, fixes.
Do I need whole-home filtration or just RO at the sink?
Whole-home improves every tap (showers, laundry) for taste/odor and sediment; RO delivers purified drinking water at one or more taps. Many homes use both.
Will a filter remove hardness/scale?
No—filtration ≠ softening. To reduce scale, add a water softener (can be paired with carbon filtration).
How often do filters need changing?
Varies by size/usage: sediment 3–12 months, carbon 6–18+ months (or media tanks every few years), RO membranes typically 2–3 years. We label dates and provide reminders if you’d like.
Does RO waste water?
RO sends some water to drain while purifying. Modern systems are more efficient; we size storage and discuss usage so it fits your needs.
Will filtration reduce my water pressure?
Properly sized housings (often 20″ big-blue) and correct micron ratings keep pressure drop low. We size to your flow so showers stay strong.
