Smarter Comfort for the Rio Grande Valley

Smart Thermostat Installation & Replacement

Upgrade to a smart thermostat that actually fits your system. Treviño Repairs installs and replaces thermostats for conventional AC/furnace, heat pumps (with aux heat), and zoned systems—verifying compatibility, adding a C-wire or adapter when needed, and making clean, code-compliant connections. We mount neatly with a trim plate if required, label wiring, and function-test heating, cooling, fan, and (when applicable) dehumidification—so your RGV home or business gets reliable, efficient control.

Services for Smart Thermostat Installation

We match the thermostat to your equipment (stages, fuel type, accessories) and ensure proper low-voltage wiring, transformer protection, and float-switch safety before powering up. Expect clean workmanship, clear options, and a neat finish.

We replace & install:

  • Wi-Fi smart thermostats (ecobee, Nest, Honeywell T-Series)
  • Heat pump & dual-fuel compatible stats (O/B reversing valve, aux heat)
  • Zoned systems (panel integration, multiple stats)
  • OEM/communicating thermostats where required by the equipment

Wiring & setup (as applicable):

  • C-wire add/adapter or new thermostat cable pull
  • Dehumidification/humidifier terminal wiring; ventilation call (ERV)
  • Outdoor temperature sensor integration (balance point/lockout)
  • Basic schedule & equipment tests; Wi-Fi/app handoff or assist on request

Code & best practices:

  • Low-voltage separation, fused 24V protection, float-switch verification
  • Proper stat placement (no sun/drafts), labeled conductors, tidy wall repair/trim

Compatibility, C-Wire & Heat Pump Basics

Most smart stats need a C-wire for stable power. If your old stat only used two to four wires, we’ll add a C-wire, install a power adapter, or pull new cable. Heat pumps require the correct O/B reversing-valve setting and proper aux/backup heat wiring—otherwise you’ll get poor comfort and high bills. Communicating systems (certain OEMs) may require the brand’s thermostat for full features, while universal stats (ecobee/Nest/Honeywell) fit most conventional and many heat-pump systems. Placement matters—keep thermostats away from direct sun, supply registers, and exterior doors for accurate readings in RGV heat and humidity.

When to Replace or Rewire Your Thermostat

A blank or rebooting display, frequent short-cycling, rooms that overshoot/undershoot, aux heat running too often, fan that never stops, rising bills after a “like-for-like” swap, or error codes following equipment changes all point to wiring or compatibility issues. Treviño Repairs can add a C-wire, correct heat-pump O/B settings and staging, verify float-switch and transformer protection, and install a compatible stat that restores comfort and efficiency.

What to Expect with Treviño Repairs

Our Indoor Air Quality Upgrade Process

  1. Assess & Verify. Identify system type (AC/furnace, heat pump, dual-fuel, zones), stages, accessories, and placement.

  2. Power Down & Protect. Safe HVAC shutdown, drop cloths, and wall prep.

  3. Document & Remove. Label old conductors, photo-document wiring, and remove the existing stat/plate.

  4. Add C-Wire or Adapter. Provide a dedicated C or install an approved power kit; pull new cable if needed.

  5. Mount & Wire. Level the base, make clean terminations (Y/Y2, W/W2, G, R/C, O/B, DHUM/HUM, AUX), and repair/cover wall marks.

  6. Power Up & Test. Restore power; run heat, cool, fan tests; confirm reversing-valve direction, aux heat lockouts, and any ventilation/dehumid calls.

  7. Handoff & Tips. Quick review of scheduling options, filter reminders, and app setup (owner or on-request assist); provide model/wiring notes.

What Our Customers Are Saying

Smart Thermostat Questions, Answered

Straightforward answers before you book—symptoms, costs, fixes.

Usually yes. We’ll add a C-wire, use a compatible adapter, or pull new cable for stable power.

Yes—when wired and configured correctly (O/B setting, aux heat). We verify staging and lockouts so it heats/cools efficiently.

Some communicating systems require the OEM thermostat. We’ll check your equipment and recommend the right path.

It can—scheduling, geofencing, and smarter staging help, but proper sizing, airflow, and setup matter just as much. We ensure the wiring and configuration are correct.

We power-up and function-test; owner app/account setup is supported with a quick handoff (or we can assist on request).
